Mercedes Window Motor

Mercedes window motor--Easy up and down window control

With a couple of gears and electronically enabled, the Mercedes window motor makes the up and down motion of the window at the touch of the button.

The automated features of your power windows are made possible by the Mercedes window motor. It is the mechanism that allows it to be automatically operated. By just pressing on the window switch or button, you can easily raise and lower your window glass. This provides ease and convenience unlike having the manually operated windows. Because of the window motor, manipulating your windows is never a lot easier.

The Mercedes window motors are electrically generated devices which trigger the gears and spur to raise and lower the window glass. It keeps a seamless linkage in lifting the window glass and keeping it level. It is connected to a worm gear and several spur gears producing a large gear reduction, providing enough torque needed to lift the windows. The power windows cannot be forced open since the worm gear has self-locking features because of the angle of contact between the worm and the gear. The worm drives the gear to spin and the friction created by its teeth causes the gears to bind.

The linkage uses a long arm that is coupled into a bar that holds the bottom of the window glass. The end of the long arm works by sliding synchronously in the bar when the window glass is raised up. On its other end is a large plate equipped with gear teeth. As the Mercedes window motors turns a gear and engages the teeth, the windows glass is allowed to be lift or lowered depending on your choice. With this mechanism, you can easily maneuver your windows.

Because the Mercedes window motor is the major part responsible for making your power windows operational, it proper working condition must always be ensured. Preserving its efficiency can be achieved by routine maintenances and proper handling. Its damage can cause inefficiency in the power window system. When this happens, replacing it must be done.
